Making a Difference in the Real World – The AMP Foundation
At AMP, our proud support of the New Zealand community is carried out primarily through the AMP Foundation. Since its inception in 2000, the AMP Foundation has been making a difference to the lives of everyday New Zealanders as a result of AMP Foundation grants and staff volunteering.
Over the last nine years, the financial assistance we have provided to charitable and community support organisations through the Foundation has fostered financial well-being, assisted capacity building and developed self-esteem and potential among youth. This year AMP gave around $500,000 in Foundation grants.
The AMP Foundation in New Zealand is based on the successful AMP Foundation model in Australia. Since the Australian AMP Foundation’s beginning in 1992, AMP Australia has donated more than $44 million to charities across Australia. AMP Australian employees have also been actively involved through fundraising and volunteering.
The AMP Foundation in New Zealand supports a wide range of organisations in an effort to fulfill its objective of building New Zealand’s social capital. The approach of the AMP Foundation is two-pronged – capacity building and community involvement.
The AMP Foundation seeks to develop partnerships with organisations whose activities align with the values and vision of AMP.
The following organisations have been selected as grant recipients for 2009 – Habitat for Humanity, NZ Federation of Family Budgeting Services, Project K, Big Buddy, YWCA Auckland, and Conservation Volunteers New Zealand.
We are extremely proud of our association with these organisations. All of them are working at the grass roots in local communities around New Zealand – helping New Zealanders to achieve success and enjoy a life lived to the full.
