Deadline looms for AMP Scholarship applications
The countdown is on for talented Kiwis planning to apply for an AMP Scholarship. Entries close at midnight on 30 June 2008 – but there is still time for talented Kiwis with a dream to get their application in. You just need to be quick!
This year, AMP will be awarding 12 AMP Scholarships of up to $10,000 each, and from these winners, AMP will select several Premium winners who will share in a further fund of up to $80,000. Recipients will also receive mentoring and support from within the AMP business.
Last year’s winners included: Josiah Wells, a freestyle skier who wants to become the next world champion, Andrew Wood, a doctor who is completing pioneering paediatric training and research in Philadelphia , Bethany Edmunds, a Maori textile weaver extraordinaire, intent on repatriating precious Maori textiles back to New Zealand, and Alexander Tylee, a ballet dancer, living her dream at the Palucca Dance School in Dresden, Germany.
This year, for the first time ever, Adviser Regional Business Scholarships are being offered in four different regions around the country.
The Adviser Regional Business Scholarships, valued between $1000 and $5000 each, are being offered by AMP Adviser Businesses. They are:
· Rothbury Risk & Investment Services Scholarship for the Auckland and Canterbury region;
· Rothbury Financial Services Scholarship for the Bay of Plenty and Waikato region;
· Heartland Insurance & Investment Scholarship for the Taranaki region; and
· AMP Powerhouse Financial Services Scholarship for the Nelson and Marlborough region.
Aspiring applicants for the AMP Scholarships and the AMP Regional Scholarships can apply online at www.amp.co.nz . Applications must be received by midnight on 30 June 2008.
The AMP Scholarship Programme is open to New Zealand residents of any age, background and ethnicity,who can demonstrate the ability and attitude to succeed in their chosen field. To date more than seventy inspiring AMP Scholarship winners have pursued their dreams in fields as diverse as virtual ovary and virtual heart development, snowboarding, golfing, sustainable design, dance, documentary making, child cancer research and shoe design.
The AMP Scholarship Programme has been running since 1998 and, in that time, over 70 Kiwis have been awarded scholarships and gone on to achieve in their chosen fields.
