Why the AMP Scholarships?
The AMP Scholarship Programme is one of the ways we offer support. The Scholarships recognise and reward people who demonstrate they have the ability and the attitude to successfully achieve their dreams.
What kind of support is available?
AMP Scholarships are available each year:
- AMP General Scholarships for members of the general public
- One AMP Adviser and Employee Scholarship exclusively for AMP Services (NZ) Ltd employees and our AMP distribution family, or a member of their immediate family
In 2010 individuals who can demondstrate that they have the passion and determination to achieve their chosen goal will be awarded AMP Scholarships. Additional AMP Premium Scholarships will also be awarded to those who are identified as outstanding candidates - AMP Premium Scholarship recipients are selected from the AMP Scholarship recipients.
AMP’s support extends beyond providing direct financial assistance. Each recipient will be assigned an AMP Adviser, if they don’t already have one, who will provide financial advice and, if required, assistance with budgeting and financial planning. Inhouse expertise will also be available if it is required.
When do applications open and close for 2010?
Applications for the AMP Scholarship Programme will open on 1 April 2010 and close at midnight on 31 May 2010. Winners will be announced in October. All unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email.
What activities qualify for support?
There’s no limit on qualifying activities. Whether you are involved in the arts, sciences, commerce, sport, industry or community service, what you need is the right attitude and determination to succeed.
You may apply to receive support for a community project, business innovation, course of study, or for meeting a sporting or artistic goal. It’s up to you.
Who can apply?
Anyone with a vision and the attitude to make it happen. Applicants must be either New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
AMP Scholarships will only be awarded to individuals.
What are the Judges looking for?
Your application will be judged on your ability to demonstrate determination and aptitude to achieve your chosen goal. While talent will be an important factor, we are looking for people with the character needed to succeed against the odds.
Among other things, the Judging Panel will look for:
- A determined attitude to succeed at your chosen goal
- Willingness to push personal limits
- Willingness to break the mould to succeed
- A clear passion for your chosen endeavour
- Determination in the face of adverse odds
How will applications be evaluated?
AMP Scholarships - depending on the goal, can be up to $10,000 and over.
All applications will be evaluated against AMP Scholarship criteria. A short-list of candidates will be selected for final consideration by the AMP Scholarship Judging Panel. Reference checks will be undertaken for all short-listed candidates prior to final judging.
Recipients of AMP Scholarships will be advised in October. All decisions will be final and no correspondence will be entered into in respect of the decisions.
A short-list of potential candidates will be selected from the AMP Scholarship recipients.
Candidates may be required to be interviewed by the AMP Scholarship Judging Panel. The Judging Panel will determine the sum to be awarded.
What are winners' responsibilities?
All AMP Scholarship recipients will be asked to sign a contract that outlines AMP’s support and payment requirements. The contract will also outline the AMP Scholarship recipients’ obligations with respect to payments and publicity. Publicity may include advertising, use of the winner’s name and/or image, and public relations activities.
Please note that if you are under 18 years of age your parents will be asked to sign the contract, so please ensure they are comfortable with your application.
How do I apply?
Applications for the AMP Scholarship Programme 2010 will open 1 April 2010. Application forms are ONLY available ONLINE and should be submitted through our online programme. Applications close midnight 31 May 2010.
