How we care for you

We help you train on the job

We’re committed to helping our employees to grow and develop while they are at AMP. We have partnered with NZQA to align our development programme with their requirements, which means you can work towards a formal qualification. There is some additional work required to complete the NZQA qualification, but most of it is completed on the job.

We’re committed to your career development

We are supportive of career progression both within Customer Services and more broadly across our organisation. Of course some people love their role and want to master it for the long term, but for others these roles are part of their career journey. We fill 40% of our vacancies with internal appointments… that’s a whole lot of development opportunities!

To make sure you have the time to consolidate your experience we ask that people stay in their roles for a minimum of 12-18 months prior to looking for their next role at AMP. This also allows the opportunity to move through career pathways.

Here’s what your first 12-18 months might look like when you start a role in our Customers Service team:

  • 0-6 months – learning the role within an intensive training programme specific to Customer Service.
  • 6-12 months – consolidating your learning and beginning to cross train.
  • From 12 months – working with your manager to identify your development path.

Progress through our formal career pathway:

We celebrate success

Whether it’s sharing positive customer feedback on our internal intranet, Workplace, receiving an award for outstanding performance at our quarterly company-wide catch ups, or even a simple Thank-You card, we love to celebrate successes big and small.

We take your wellbeing seriously

We care about wellbeing - physically, emotionally and mentally – and have an extensive internal programme offering monthly wellness initiatives including flu vaccinations, mole maps, massages and more.

We offer great employee benefits

We’re committed to helping everyday Kiwis own their tomorrow. The same goes for our employees. To demonstrate this, we offer several fantastic benefits for permanent staff:

We provide consistent work hours

Our customer service team is unique in that it operates Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and works a set 7.5-hour shift within these times.

During peak time there may be an opportunity to work overtime when you and your manager agree. This is an exception and normally there will be no late nights or weekend work required.
