March markets moved down

04 May 2018

Markets had a downward trend during March however AMP KiwiSaver Scheme funds are still performing well when looking at the past year and the longer term returns given the strong performance of the stock markets around the world in 2017 and earlier.
Compared to the average return on the average term deposit for 1 year offered by the major banks as at 3 March 2017 of 3.36% pa, the returns for some of our key funds were:

  • 7.30% pa for the AMP Growth Fund
  • 5.89% pa for the AMP Balanced Fund
  • 3.53% pa for the AMP Conservative Fund

These returns are after total fund charges and before tax.
Markets are likely to continue to go up and down over the coming period while there is uncertainty in the United States, but AMP KiwiSaver Scheme is a long-term investment and unless your individual circumstances have changed, this may not be the time to make hasty decisions to change your funds.
