The Study Start Scholarship is for a Year 12 or 13 student who is aiming to make a positive difference in New Zealand through their field of study or training. You don’t have to be a straight A student but you do need to be passionate and determined to pursue your dream. The scholarship is worth up $10,000.
Applications open in 1 July 2017.

AMP Study Start Scholarship Recipients
In 2015 three students were awarded a Study Start Scholarship:
- Monique Oliver - whose goal is to make a career answering the burning questions around space and our universe
- Janitha Gunathilake - who has a passion for robotics and dreams of developing low cost, reusable rockets
- Liam Melville - dreams of becoming a doctor and bridging the gap in health for Maori
Study Start applicants should be looking to fulfill a much bigger goal than the study itself, ultimately going on to make a positive difference to New Zealand after completing their formal study. The Study Start Scholarship is open to Year 12 and 13 students planning to study at a tertiary institute and they have to be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
Finalists are invited to chat with the AMP Judging Panel in Auckland and the recipient will be announced at the AMP National Scholarships Awards Event in October.
