What is a direct debit?

A direct debit is a contribution method that gives AMP permission to take a specified amount of funds directly from your bank account. This allows you to automate the process, so that you don’t have to set up individual payments each time you would like to contribute to your AMP accounts.

Setting up a direct debit

There are several ways to set up a direct debit with AMP.

1)       Set up using MyAMP Online.

  • Log in to the MyAMP portal
  • Go to the Contributions tab and select the appropriate product.
  • Select Set up regular contribution
  • Enter the amount, frequency and start date of the payment and select a bank account.
  • Read and confirm agreement to the Declaration, Authorisation, terms and conditions.
     

2)       Give us a call on 0800 800 267 and we’ll help set it up over the phone.

3)       Complete Direct Debit authority form for the related product and submit it via email to  one of the below email addresses:

Once AMP receives your request, it will take 2–3 working days to resolve.

Updating a direct debit

There are several ways to update a direct debit you already have with AMP.

1)       Update using MyAMP Online.

  • Log in to the MyAMP portal
  • Go to the Contributions tab and select the appropriate direct d.
  • Select Set up regular contribution
  • Enter the amount, frequency and start date of the payment and select a bank account.
  • Read and confirm agreement to the Declaration, Authorisation, Terms and Conditions.

Cancelling a direct debit

If you want to cancel a direct debit being paid into your AMP account, you can cancel it in several different ways.

Cancel in MyAMP (web)

  • Log in to MyAMP at https://online.amp.co.nz
  • Go to the Contributions tab.
  • You will see a list of your active direct debits.
  • Find the direct debit you want to cancel and select Cancel.
  • When the confirmation popup appears, select Yes.
  • Once you confirm that direct debit will be cancelled and no further payments will be made to your AMP account.
     

Cancel in the MyAMP app

  • Open the MyAMP app.
  • Go to the menu and select Manage Payments.
  • Find the direct debit you want to cancel and select Cancel payment.
  • When the confirmation popup appears, select Yes.

Please note that it can take 2-3 business days to process requests received via phone or email. If your Direct Debit needs to be cancelled before then, you can contact your bank to get the Direct Debit stopped on their end.
