Excess-free windscreen/windshield and window glass chip repairs are automatically included in comprehensive car insurance cover. If you damage your windscreen or window glass and it can be repaired, you won’t need to pay an excess. If the damage can't be repaired and your windscreen needs to be replaced, your normal policy excesses will apply.

Note: the excess free benefit only applies if you are only claiming for is the windscreen and window glass

An excess is the amount you must pay for each incident when you make a claim. Depending on the circumstances, you may not have to pay an excess if it is agreed that the driver of your car was not at fault. Alternatively, you might have to pay more than one type of excess when you claim. Types of additional excess can include;
• Age excess which applies if a driver under 25 years of age was driving, using or in charge of your car at the time of the incident.
• Inexperienced driver excess which applies if a driver 25 years of age or over and licensed for the car type for less than 2 years, was driving, using or in charge of your car at the time of the event.
• Driver history excess which applies if a driver who has had their license cancelled, suspended, or disqualified in the last 3 years was driving, using or in charge of your car at the time of the incident.

It is best to list all drivers who use the car on a regular basis when you purchase car insurance. Your premium will be based on the drivers you provide and will use factors such as age, gender and driving history. There are options on who drives your car, which can attract a discount on your insurance premium.
