Protecting your personal information is important to us. We are committed to handling your information carefully and in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 (Privacy Act).

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and store your personal information. It applies whenever you interact with us about our products and services or are a customer of ours.

By providing your personal information to us or using our products and services, you agree to this Privacy Policy (as updated from time to time). If you provide us with personal information about another person, you confirm that you have their explicit consent for us to collect and use that information as described in this policy.

Who are we?


References to AMP, "we", "us" or "our" in this policy include the following AMP Group companies: AMP Wealth Management New Zealand Limited, AMP Services (NZ) Limited, AMP New Zealand Holdings Limited and AMP Nominees (NZ) Limited. 

AMP NZ is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AMP Limited, an Australian company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). AdviceFirst Limited, which operates the AdviceFirst and enable.me brands, is also part of the AMP Group in New Zealand. 

What is personal information?


When we talk about "personal information" we mean any information that could identify a specific individual or be used to establish an individual’s identity.

Why do we ask for your personal information?


We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide our products and/or services, meet our legal obligations, and improve your experience with us. You can choose not to provide personal information, but this may affect the services we can offer you.

What types of personal information do we collect?


Depending on the product or service, we may collect:

  • name, date of birth and contact details (e.g. physical and postal addresses, emails and phone numbers);
  • account information (e.g. usernames and login credentials);
  • identification documents (e.g. driver’s licence and passport details);
  • CCTV images when you visit our premises;
  • health information (but only for relevant products / services, with your consent);
  • biometric information (where strictly necessary and with your consent);
  • financial and tax information (e.g. income, IRD number, assets, liabilities, account balances, investment preferences and financial and credit history);
  • employment details (where relevant);
  • interests and preferences for products/services and communications;
  • usage information (e.g. IP address, device, browser, operating system and activity);
  • details relevant to taking out or administering insurance policies including information about what you require insurance for, your insurance history, beneficiaries and claims background;
  • publicly available information; and/or
  • any information you share when interacting with us including those relating to account enquiries, concerns and claims.


How do we collect your personal information?


We usually collect personal information directly from you. This usually happens when you interact with us by phone, online, through our website or mobile applications, or when you fill out forms for our products and services. We may also collect information when you participate in competitions or promotions related to us, whether on our own channels or third party sites). In some cases, we may record interactions you have with us.

We use website tools, analytics technologies, software and cookies to help us collect information about your interactions with us. Interactive tools and features available on our website and mobile applications - including calculators and other input-based tools - may also be used to obtain information you provide. In addition, we may collect or use your information through select AI initiatives designed to enhance your experience and deliver tailored services. 

We may also collect your information from other sources, including:

  • anyone you have authorised us to collect information from;
  • family members or guardians (for children / young persons);
  • other companies within the wider AMP Group (e.g. our Australian parent, AMP Limited or our subsidiary, AdviceFirst Limited);
  • regulatory and government agencies (e.g. Inland Revenue);
  • providers we work with, such as insurance, financial, investment or insights providers;
  • credit information suppliers and collections agencies;
  • third party providers (including their websites and channels);
  • marketing and insights providers;
  • publicly available sources and registers;
  • your employer (for KiwiSaver or superannuation purposes); and/or
  • as otherwise permitted by the Privacy Act.


Where we collect personal information about you from third parties, we will take reasonable steps to notify you of this collection, the purpose, and your rights, as required by law.


Why do we collect your personal information?


We use your personal information for purposes including:

  • interacting with you;
  • establishing, managing and administering the products and services provided by us or our partners (including verifying identity, running credit checks, account management, customer service and managing concerns);
  • developing and improving  our products, services and offerings;
  • personalising products, services and other offerings for you (including understanding your financial needs and assessing that against products and services that may be of use to you, tailoring our communications to you and undertaking personalised advertising);
  • understanding your financial background and history;
  • marketing products, services or offerings relevant to you and understanding more about you (including combining information we have to build a better picture of your interests and preferences) and to personalise the targeted content we provide to you on our and third party platforms;
  • gathering insights through surveys, market research and analysis;
  • identifying, managing and responding to health, safety and security concerns (including fraud and other suspected illegal activity);
  • for our business operational purposes (including record keeping, data analytics, auditing, training and facilitating the transfer or disposal of our business and assets);
  • complying with legal and regulatory obligations (including sharing with law enforcement and government agencies where we are legally required to or reasonably consider that personal information should be disclosed); and/or
  • for any other reason you authorise or as permitted by the Privacy Act.

Will you contact me about products and services?

We may use and share your personal information to keep you informed about the range of financial products and services we offer, things we think are of interest to you and for insights/research purposes. We may contact you via the contact methods you have provided, including email and SMS.

You consent to receiving electronic messages from AMP, from members of the AMP group or trusted partners via the contact methods you have shared with AMP including email and SMS.

You can opt out of receiving direct marketing from us at any time by emailing us at marketingnz@amp.co.nz.

Who do we share personal information with?


From time to time, we may share your personal information with other entities both within and outside of the wider AMP Group for purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. The entities that we might share your personal information with vary according to the product or service involved, but could include:

  • other areas and organisations within the wider AMP Group that provide financial and other services  (for reasonable business purposes);
  • financial advisers, brokers and other parties authorised or accredited by AMP;
  • individuals permitted to receive information about your products and services (e.g. other insurance policy holders);
  • service providers and specialist advisers we engage to provide us with services such as administrative, audit, financial, insurance or research services, some of whom may contact you on our behalf;
  • insurers, including reinsurance companies, and credit providers;
  • courts, tribunals and dispute resolution bodies;
  • credit reporting or reference agencies;
  • employers contributing to or otherwise participating in superannuation or insurance plans and schemes that are offered;
  • policy committees in superannuation plans;
  • anyone authorised by you (including but not limited to other financial services providers that we may need to deal with on your behalf);
  • anyone to whom we, or our service providers, are required or authorised by law to disclose your personal
  • information to (for example, law enforcement agencies or the Inland Revenue); and/or
  • as permitted by the Privacy Act.

Do we send personal information to overseas recipients?

Some entities we share your personal information with may be located in, or operate from, other countries. This means that your information may be stored or accessed overseas, including (for example) Australia, China, countries within the European Union, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mauritius, Philippines, Singapore, United Kingdom and United States.

When we transfer your personal information overseas, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your privacy, as required by law. 

We note that some independent financial advisers affiliated with AMP may have their own outsourcing arrangements to other countries. Those arrangements will be disclosed separately by the financial adviser.

How do we protect your personal information?


We use a combination of physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, and improper modification or disclosure. This includes encryption, access controls, regular security reviews, and staff training.

We do not keep personal information for longer than is lawfully permitted or necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected. We have regular data retention management and purging practices in place to ensure information is securely deleted or anonymised when no longer required.

If a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as soon as practicable, in accordance with the Privacy Act.

What are my privacy rights?


You can request access to your personal information or ask us to correct it. Please contact us using the details below.  We will respond to access and correction requests as soon as practicable and in accordance with the Privacy Act. 

We may also ask you to update your personal information from time to time to ensure it remains accurate.

What happens if I do not provide information that has been requested?

You can choose not to provide personal information. However, this may mean we are unable to fulfil your request for a product or service, or be unable to identify you to protect against fraud. If you are seeking financial advice, it may affect our ability to properly analyse your circumstances.

About this policy


This policy is effective as of 1 December 2025. We will update this policy when our information handling practices change, and any amendments will apply to information we hold at the time of the update. We will post the updated policy on our website or notify you directly where appropriate. We encourage you to review this policy regularly. 

Sometimes, our products and services may have specific privacy terms. Where there is a conflict between this policy and product-specific terms, the latter will prevail.
