What are the terms and conditions?


AMP KiwiSaver Scheme - Refer a friend promotion - Terms and Conditions

  Introduction

1. These terms and conditions (Terms) form the basis of the “Refer a Friend” promotion (Promotion). By participating in the Promotion, you agree to these Terms.

2. The Promotion is being offered by AMP Wealth Management New Zealand Limited, the Manager of the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme, and its related companies (AMP).

3. In these Terms “you” or “your” refers to the reader, whether a referring member of the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme (Referring Member), a person who receives a referral email/social media message for the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme in connection with the Promotion (Referee), or any other participant in the Promotion. Who is eligible for the Promotion

4. The Promotion is open to family and friends of a select group of AMP KiwiSaver Scheme members from 21 September 2021. Subject to any rights of the Referrer or Referee under New Zealand law, the Promoter may cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion or these Terms and Conditions at any time and for any reason before the end of the Promotional Period and shall not be liable to any entrant, Friend or Referrer for any loss or damage incurred as a result. Any Referrer and Friend that have met the conditions of the Promotion before this termination date shall still be eligible for the Promotion.

5. The Referee must be aged 18 or over at the time of this Promotion for it to be available.

6. The Referee must join the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme via the AMP website Join form and include a Referring Member’s promo code. The Promotion is not available via an adviser form, although a Referee can speak with an AMP employed Financial Adviser before joining the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme.

7. The Promotion is only open to Eligible Persons. A person is an Eligible Person if they are a Refereer who is a current member of the AMP KiwiSaver, or if they are a Referring Member who:
i. applies to join the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme via the AMP website Join form at any time from 21 September 2021 and such application is received by AMP while this Promotion remains open, and provided that the Referring Member’s application is accepted by AMP;
ii. has not joined the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme through the paper form or through email;
iii. has not joined the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme with the assistance of any external adviser or via an Enterprise Partnership;
iv. is not already a member of the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme as at 21 September 2021; and
v. is aged 18 or over at the time at which they submit their application to join the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme and is otherwise eligible to be a KiwiSaver member.

8. The digital sign up form and Referring Member’s promotion code must be used by the Referee to complete sign up in order for the Referring Member and Referee to be eligible for this Promotion and the form must be submitted by midnight on the final day of the Promotion. Only one Referring Member’s promotional code is able to be submitted on the join form (i.e. there may be no dual/joint referrals).

9. There is no limit to the number of times a Referring Member can refer and receive a $100 contribution provided that each Referee meets the eligibility criteria.

Refer-a-friend contribution and other key terms of the Promotion

10. The Refer-a-friend contribution will be paid into your AMP KiwiSaver Scheme account only. It will be classified as a voluntary contribution into that account. The Refer-a-friend contribution will not be paid as cash and may not otherwise be redeemed in any other way. It is not exchangeable, negotiable, or transferable to any other person.

11. Like other types of contributions to your KiwiSaver account, the Refer-a-friend contribution cannot be freely withdrawn. To withdraw any funds from your AMP KiwiSaver Scheme account, you must meet the relevant withdrawal criteria under the KiwiSaver Act 2006 and complete and submit a withdrawal application form.

12. AMP may, in its absolute discretion and for any reason whatsoever, accept, reject or postpone the processing of any application for membership of the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme. The AMP KiwiSaver Scheme terms and conditions apply to applications for membership of the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme. AMP will refund any funds received in respect of rejected applications as soon as practicable, without any interest applied to those funds.

13. AMP reserves the right to extend, change or terminate this Promotion or change these Terms at any time and in its complete discretion. Any revision to these Terms will apply to all applications for membership of the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme submitted after the date the revised Terms were published.

14. If AMP determines in its sole discretion that you have failed to comply with these Terms in any way, AMP may take any action it considers appropriate, including cancelling and reversing any jumpstart contribution paid into your AMP KiwiSaver Scheme account, and excluding you from further participation in this Promotion or any future similar promotions AMP may run.

15. In respect of any dispute regarding the Promotion or the payment of the Refer-a-friend contribution to an Eligible Person, AMP’s decision is final.

16. By taking part in the Promotion, you acknowledge that in making this Promotion available to you, AMP has not made any recommendations and has not given any opinions or financial advice as to the suitability of the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme or any if its funds for you (unless you have asked for and received financial advice from one of our AMP Direct team Financial Advisers). The information provided in relation to the Promotion is of a general nature and does not constitute financial or other professional advice. You should make your own assessment about whether becoming a member of the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme is suitable for you and seek professional financial advice if you are unsure. Before taking any action you should always seek financial advice or other professional advice relevant to your personal circumstances. For financial advice, we recommend you contact your Adviser or you can speak to one of our AMP employed Financial Advisers. 17. While care has been taken to ensure that the information provided in relation to the Promotion is accurate, no entity or person gives any warranty of reliability or accuracy, or accepts any responsibility arising in any way including from any error or omission.

18. AMP, its agents and employees, and any companies related to AMP including AMP Wealth Management New Zealand Limited, are not liable to any person for any loss, damage or liability whatsoever arising from or in conjunction with this Promotion.

19. No claim may be made against AMP, its agents and employees, and any companies related to AMP including AMP Wealth Management New Zealand Limited, in connection with any extension, change or termination AMP may make to any of the Terms of this Promotion.

20. AMP does not accept any responsibility for any tax liability incurred as a result of the contribution being paid into your AMP KiwiSaver Scheme account.

21. All personal information that you provide to AMP when you apply to join the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme (in order to become an Eligible Person of this Promotion) will be collected, stored and used in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020, AMP’s Privacy Policy, and the terms and conditions of the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme including your application form.

22. For privacy and confidentiality reasons, we will not disclose to a Referring Member whether a New Member’s application to be a member of the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme is approved or declined. However, the Referring Member will be aware that one of their Referees has joined the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme.

23. If you are a Referee, you acknowledge that AMP is not liable for any transfer fees that may be payable to your existing KiwiSaver provider, the loss of any benefits provided by that provider, or any increase in account balance that you may have otherwise received as a result of market movements while your transfer to the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme is processed.

24. This promotional offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offers or discounts.

How does the join process work?

1. Apply Online
Our online join form makes it quick and easy. We give a little help choosing the right fund at the start of the form. Whether you are new to KiwiSaver or switching schemes from another provider: Click here to join with this deal

2. We take care of the set up
We take care of everything once we have your details confirmed (and made sure you’re you), so you don’t have to. We let Inland Revenue (IRD) and, if you have one, your current KiwiSaver provider know you are joining AMP. Once your current provider has sent us your funds and IRD have confirmed you’re now with AMP, we’ll send you a welcome pack.

This usually takes a few weeks so just sit back and relax.

3. You get the deal
Once you join, we’ll pop $100 into both you and your friend’s AMP KiwiSaver Scheme account and we’ll let you know via email when it’s been done. Easy!

What else should I consider when joining a KiwiSaver provider?

Can I change my mind?
Yes!
Even if you do decide to change KiwiSaver providers, there is nothing stopping you changing your mind later.
You can decide to change your KiwiSaver provider at any time, but you can only be with one provider at a time.
As your new KiwiSaver provider, AMP will arrange for your savings to be transferred from your old KiwiSaver scheme to your new one with AMP.
After the transfer is complete, we will notify you.
The process normally takes about two weeks.
Keep in mind your old KiwiSaver provider may charge you a transfer fee (but we don’t charge for new transfers into the AMP KiwiSaver Scheme). You can check this by looking at your old KiwiSaver provider’s Product Disclosure Statement (which you will find on their website).

Consider what you may give up
You might find there are benefits associated with changing your KiwiSaver provider, like more fund options, services such as more help with your investment choices, and tools and online apps.
But sometimes there are downsides and we want to help you understand what some of those things are before you decide to change your KiwiSaver provider.

• Impact
Make sure that your KiwiSaver is invested in things that you care about (and not in things you disagree with). There’s more than $100 billion invested through KiwiSaver. This money is owned by all of us, and is invested to build our savings for the future. But these investments can often contradict our values. At AMP we’re focused on investing our members’ money sustainably through the AMP-branded funds, to help build a future we can be proud of and an environment we can thrive in. • Fund choice
When it comes to choosing the fund (or funds) you want to invest in with a new KiwiSaver provider, take a look at the different fund features that are available to you. KiwiSaver members choose which type of fund (or funds) they put their money into. Some funds are considered higher risk, which generally means higher potential returns over time, but with more ups and downs along the way and a greater possibility of a negative return. Others are considered lower risk, which typically deliver more consistent yet lower returns, with smaller ups and downs along the way. It’s important to be in a fund that suits your needs and your risk appetite. At AMP we’ve got over 20 funds to choose from. In fact, you can choose to be in up to 7 funds at a time (at no extra charge) Or, you can choose an investment plan that automatically updates your fund as life moves on - and if that just feels a bit too much, we’ve got helpful tools to help you figure out what kind of fund suits you best.

• Service and Support
Does your current provider offer services that the one you are thinking of joining doesn't? Each KiwiSaver provider has its own level of customer service, communication, online tools, and access to expert advisers and fund managers. It’s important you’re with a provider who gives you what you want. Here at AMP we have a team of people who can help you from simple requests to concise financial advice. We feel it’s important that you have a provider who is there to give you the help and guidance that you need.

• Access
Your current provider may have great online tools and resources to help you with your KiwiSaver. With MyAMP, members can view account balances and recent transactions, see how investments are performing, change funds and make extra contributions, and if you’d prefer to talk to a real person – we do that too!

• Fees
Keep an eye on your fees to make sure you’re paying fees that you feel are fair. Your current KiwiSaver provider might be cheaper because it charges lower fees. Our sustainably invested, AMP-branded funds are now down to 0.77%. We’re totally transparent in what we charge – take a look here to see all our funds and their fees.

• Investment performance
Maybe your current provider has had better returns meaning your balance grew faster than it would have with the provider you are considering. Remember that past performance is no guarantee of future returns, and that returns over different periods may differ.

• Extras
Sometimes KiwiSaver providers offer other benefits to their customers, like exclusive member only discounts, which require you to remain a member with them if you want to keep these benefits. So, make sure you know what (if anything) you’re giving away by switching providers. I've got my code. What's next?


Share your code and the application form link with your friends. When they complete the application form, they'll be asked "Have a promotion code?". They should enter the code and you both get $100 in your KiwiSaver. Easy! Once we've completed the application, we'll top-up your account with $100 and email you both to let you know.
